I want to run again with you

I want to run again with you
My Panther
Quiet and Hidden we ran fast
Through the fruity colored rainforest

Smiling darkly, in the night we would ride
you would carry me swift
then take rest while I stroke your Jetted fur
and sing you to sleep

Until I told you to go.
I had a baby so small
you play rough and he might get hurt
Come back when it’s safer, I said

now I didn’t see you in a long time
and he is older
and I haven’t played, or saved, for even longer
We ran once so gallant and fearless

Come again to me in the night
I want to show him how to jump and climb
and whisper and roar
and play all the tricks we used to play, to live and be

and thrive

black and quiet
wet dark eyes tearing in silent laughter
I want to run again my friend

I want to feel the evening winds
